On Friday morning at the butt crack of dawn we took Emmi to Primary Children's Hospital for TUBES!!! 3 weeks ago she got her 10th ear infection and we all called it quits and opted for surgery.
The evening before the surgery I took her in for a pre-op class to get her familiar with the hospital. She could have cared less besides getting her "buddy" which was her hospital doll, and playing with all the toys. She did put the stethoscope on to listen to her buddy's heart. I was pretty proud.
The next morning she did find all of her surroundings familar which was nice. I could chalk this up to one of Emmi's funnest mornings ever. Same Day Surgery has a plethora of toys that any kid could dream of. She had no idea what she was in for. And for that matter she still doesn't know what happened.

We opted to give Emmi versed which helps them not have too much anxiety for when we had to leave her with the anesthesiologist. UH...it worked like a charm. She could have cared less. I layed her in the wagon and off she went with no care in the world. Here are the pics to prove that she was in fact "under the influence"

Recovery was difficult for Emmi. She cried and cried with her eyes closed forever. Kids were coming in, recovering and leaving, and there we were still holding Emmi crying. Finally, she was distracted with some cartoons. She drank some gatorade and we were off. What a morning. It was so weird being in the hosptal where I work and being on the other end. In some weird way it was kinda nice.
We are just grateful she made it out with no complications and things went rather smoothly. Way to go Emmi!!! Now lets try to go a month without an ear infection.

I'm glad things went so well for little Emmi! Ear infections are the worst! Our kids have had so many! I hope things will become easier for Emmi (and for you guys!) now that she has the tubes.
It was me who wrote and deleted the first comment as well by the way. I posted it before it was done :)
id you try the eardoc before going on for tubes?
I'm glad things went well for little Emmi! She looked pretty cute in those hospital pj's. What a trooper. You'll have to let me know how it all goes!
Poor little thing. It is so sad watching your kids when they are hurting. Hopefully the ear infections will be gone.
Oh boy - that picture of her on versed is awesome. I'm glad she is okay now. I hate recovery too.
SAD but good that she has tubes now and no more infections!!!
Hey Angie.. Soraya and Ella both had tubes and I agree, it is a weird experience, I hated when they woke up and were all disoriented. Nothing you can do calms them down. Good luck and tubes always did wonders for our babies ears..
I'm glad she is doing well. Sorry about all those ear infections. I didn't know you guys were going through that. Hopefully it's all better now:)
Surgery on your little one is so hard. I remember back when Braden was 6 months old and he had to go in for a simple surgical procedure. But we were so nervous. Looks like everything went great though.
